Voted one of the top 5 zoos for kids! The Phoenix Zoo provides experiences for all of its visitors and it is their hope that this will help inspire people and motivate to care for all of the little critters outside of the zoo.
Here are just a few of the animals your family or friends can discover while vising!

If that is not enough, the zoo in Phoenix has 125 acres of land which includes both exhibit and non-exhibit areas for you to roam. Plus, every month the Phx Zoo has special events for the whole family! So make sure to bookmark this site as there are ongoing special events!
Stop out and see the Harmony farm! Your toddlers’ faces will beam with excitement when they explore the Fisher-Price® and Little People® Discovery Farm™. When you are done with that, stop in and say hi to the goats in the large Red Barn at Harmony Farm. It seems that they are always having babies so there is a very good chance that you will get an up close view of one of its newborn baby residents.
If you are bringing your little ones, there are activities for children as young as 18 months.
Planning on going to the Phoenix Zoo? Believe me, it has so many things to do
and see! With approximately 2.5 miles of
walking trails, allow for about 2.5 to three hours of time to see the four
divided trails. (*The time it takes to
walk the entire area depends on how many are in your group and how fast you
walk.) If you would like to see a
printable map, Look Here.
When you are getting a little tired, you can sit down at one of their picnic tables, ride a camel, or even ride on the Safari train. The train departs every 20-30 minutes and is also wheelchair accessible. Hungry? They also have plenty of food choices for everyone to enjoy!
Interact with the Stingrays at Stingray Bay! This is pretty cool… The Stingray Bay is an interactive experience that allows guests to get real close as in being able to actually dip your hand in the water and feel their skin!
What you may really appreciate as I do, is the fact that they strongly believe in behavioral enrichment to ensure that all of their animals are matched with their proper environment which in turn enhances the lives of every single captive animal.
The visitors enjoy the animals while at the same time, the animals are provided with the appropriate mental and physical stimulation that helps their mind and body stay healthy. The idea of providing goals of enrichment is 100 percent... for the psychological well being for these adored animals. You will likely notice that the animals are given the opportunity to make their own choices which stimulates behaviors that are typical of each species.
