Arizona Mountains! Did you know there are 193 mountain
ranges in AZ? I had no idea there were so many mountains until I did
some research. If you love Arizona like I do, I don't need to try and explain why people appreciate the mountains as so many do... Let's explore them together!
What are your favorite AZ mountains? I particularly love the Superstition Mountains. I didn’t grow up around mountains and personally never saw them in person (except for pictures or on television, of course) until I was a teenager.
No matter what the reason for stopping by here today is, I just want to thank you and encourage you to explore any of these ranges.... they range in different difficulties which makes it ideal for anyone to enjoy! And they are a great stress reliever, by the way!
I have to admit being surrounded by so many mountain in AZ, it just makes me feel at peace... if you have experienced them yourself, you know what I am talking about! For many people, the reason mountains are loved is because of how they can make us feel... they just seem magical to me. Do you ever just get lost in them? Special! Share your experience with us... if you have a special range of Arizona mountains, we would love to hear from you!
Living right next to the Superstition Mountains, I guess it's fair to say I favor these.... that is not to say that the others are not beautiful because they are! It’s a fact that the Superstition Mountains take on a different
appearance every day. I have often heard others agree that these mountains in Arizona take on a different look everyday!
The sun and the cloud mixture often creates an area on the western part of the mountain that makes it look as if someone is shining a television camera light directly on that side.... but then the very next day you might get a completely different look. If you know these mountains, you already know what I am talking about and understand exactly what I mean when I say the Superstition Mountains never look the same from day to day! It is no wonder that people hike to the top of these beauties!
Mt. Lemmon in the Tucson area is another beautiful range! Coming into the Tucson area and seeing those snow capped peaks in the winter months... hmmm. Awesome!
Then there are the White Mountains.... they are located in the higher elevations and in the summer, this area is a favorite amongst us locals who need to escape for a couple days to the coooool beautiful mountain air! In fact, I just checked... It is June 6th and it is about 100 degrees as I type.... and a cool 84 degrees in the White Mountains!
In the winter, this is also a popular getaway for those who enjoy the snow. There are plenty of activities. Things to do such as snowshoeing, sleigh rides, skiing, snowmobiling, the rich Native American culture and breathtaking views, you cannot go wrong heading up north to see this precious area.
If you plan to hike any of the Arizona mountains, note the important precautions you should take into account BEFORE you hike... this means no matter how fit you are or how young you are. At the time of this writing, there was a young 23-year old man from Washington who went hiking on the Camelback Mountain in early June. Unfortunately the man did not come down from the mountain alive because the elements got the best of him.
Below you will find a list of AZ mountains which include the elevations.
